Here are six tips to Keep Your Mental Health

Have a sense of humor.

We all are familiar with the saying, “Laughter is the best medicine.” This is so true. Be willing to laugh at personal mistakes. Watch a funny movie. Share a joke with a friend. In other words, lighten up. It will make such a difference.

Breath in deeply
Practice deep abdominal breathing periodically throughout the day. Breath in deeply through the nose pulling the belly button toward the spine, hold for a few seconds, and then slowly release. People will be pleasantly surprised at how this simple technique can result in a more relaxed body and mind. This can be done in any environment.

Connecting with people
Connect with family, friends, neighbours, or colleagues. Be it by talking, writing a letter, sending an e-mail, or telephone. As long as you do it, you concentrate on that person and thereby keep the brain usefully occupied

Cultural activities
Visiting a museum, getting a tour around a theater, singing in a choir, forming a reading group in a library, visiting an art center where patients can participate in ceramics or painting, or making music.

Giving
Give something of yourself to others. If it’s only a smile and a thank you to the postman, or a friendly hello to somebody you meet, giving this much to somebody else makes you aware of that person.  Make giving a habit—even if it’s just a few bucks. It’s not how much that matters, but how often.

Green exercise
According to a new study published in Environmental Science and Technology, it only takes fives minutes of green exercise to benefit mental health, including improved mood or sense of well-being. Study authors Jules Pretty and Jo Barton explain that green exercise is any physical activity in nature. Examples include a stroll in the park, exploring a nature trail or gardening in your yard. Pretty and Barton analyzed various outdoor activities, such as walking, horse-riding, cycling, fishing, gardening, boating and farming.
